Saint Louis FC was an American professional soccer team based in St. Louis, Missouri. The team was founded in May 2014, and competed in the USL Championship.
Saint Louis FC set out on a goal to actively engage with die-hard supporters and the city through an app experience. With focus on engagement, team updates, and ticket sales via a native app. With the season starting in 2 months, the app needed to be live and functional 1 week before.
Due to the level of trust and timeline, we agreed whiteboard wires of core pages would be the best route forward. Producing high level wires to give me a more accurate look at how the app will layout practically. All the while keeping in focus the user engagement feedback I'd already received.
Leveraging much of the usl.com API, we could rapidly pull STLFC content and updates. Being the first USL team to have an app, we deployed with on both the Apple AppStore and Google Play Store. The customer experience team found this effort a great success. Ownership could leverage the effort, showing financial commitment to the club and city for a potential bid into Major League Soccer.
